After sweeping 2006 SCAC Cross Country Championships, DePauw takes five of
six major awards
SUWANEE, Ga.
- DePauw University's Kori
Stoffregen has been selected Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
(SCAC) Coach-of-the-Year for both men's and women's cross country for the
2006 season in exclusive voting by the head coaches in the conference.
 For Stoffregen
(pictured left), it is his seventh consecutive men’s cross country
Coach-of-the-Year honor, and fourth consecutive women’s. He was also
recognized as the league’s women’s Coach-of-the-Year in 2000.
The 27th-ranked DePauw men won their seventh
straight SCAC Cross Country title with 48 points – just 11 points in front
of the host school, Centre College. The DU Tigers were 15 points better than
third-place Colorado College and 22 points ahead of fourth-place Rhodes
College. It was the closest finish for the
men since the 1999 race at Hendrix College when Rhodes defeated Trinity
University by nine points.
Running in its first SCAC championship meet,
Colorado College had the top three individual
finishers, led by the 2006 SCAC Men’s Runner-of-the-Year, junior Julian
Boggs (pictured right), who covered the course in a time of
26:32.93.

2006 All-SCAC Men's Team
 Zack Weinberg of
DePauw (pictured left) earned Newcomer-of-the-Year honors by virtue
of being the top finisher among first-year runners. Weinberg crossed the
finish line in 16th place with a time of 27:51.21.
The 26th-ranked DePauw women's cross country team totaled 35 points and
finished ahead of Colorado College’s 56 to win its fourth straight Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference championship.
DePauw’s first-year runner Lauren Reich (pictured right)
garnered SCAC Women’s Runner-of-the-Year honors by covering the Danville,
Kentucky course in a winning time of 23:31.13. Reich also earned the title
of the league’s Newcomer-of-the-Year.
