SCAC Women's Cross Country

HAYLEY ROBB OF SEWANEE-UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH, a senior from Huntsville, Ala., has been selected the SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, October 3 and Saturday, October 4.

Robb
won her first college cross country race on Saturday leading the Tigers at the Tiger Twilight Invitational. Winning by over a minute to the second place runner, Robb finished with a personal best time at 6k with 23:11.19, which was the fourth fastest time ever on the course.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First year runner Taylor Stephens of Rhodes
Stephens led the Rhodes women to a fifth place finish at the NCAA Pre-Nationals race at Hanover College. Stephens was the first freshman finisher and was fourth overall in a time of 21:51.60.


WEEK 5

SCAC Women's Cross Country
Runner-of-the-Week
(For meets run Friday, Sept. 26th through Saturday, Sept. 27th)

EMILY LOEFFLER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from San Antonio Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27.

Loeffler defended her title in the Texas DIII Championships as she led the Tigers to a near perfect 16 points. 

Her time of
22:08 broke the school record by 23 seconds and is 1:41 faster than what she ran to win last year on the same course.


WEEK 4

SCAC Women's Cross Country
Runner-of-the-Week
(For meets run Friday, Sept. 19th through Saturday, Sept. 20th)

LOLLY PLUMMER OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, a first-year runner from Lake Charles La., has been selected the SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, September 19 and Saturday, September 20.

Plummer
clocked a school record 17:53.7 to finish in ninth place at the Missouri Southern Stampede. Plummer fought her way through the DI/DII field after being 32nd at the mile mark to finish as the top freshmen in the field. 

Hendrix was the only D3 school in the field but finished 14th out of 34 teams on the course that hosted the D2 National Championships last year.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year runner Maggie Harkins of
Colorado College ran a personal best time of 25:23 at the Colorado College Invite (6,000 feet). Maggie ended up finishing eighth in the collegiate division helping to lead the women’s team to a first place finish (out of 8 schools). This was the second meet in a row that she has led the women’s team.


WEEK 3

SCAC Women's Cross Country

(For meets run Friday, Sept. 12th through Saturday, Sept. 13th)

HAYLEY ROBB OF SEWANEE-UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH, a senior runner from Huntsville, Ala., has been selected the SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, September 12 and Saturday, September 13.

Robb followed up her personal best performance last week with a second place finish at the Centre Invitational. 

She ran a solid time of 19:32 (a full minute ahead of third place) to rank her among the top 15 best times for the 5k course at Centre.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Lauren McCafferty of Centre had a very strong race this weekend on the very challenging Centre College 5K course despite 95 degree temperatures. McCafferty was one of only three women in the race of 96 competitors to break 21 minutes. Her time of 20:33 was 45 seconds faster than her time on the same course last year and was good enough for third place overall and first on her team. She led the Centre women to a first place team finish out of 11 teams of all divisions.


WEEK 2

SCAC Women's Cross Country

(For meets run Friday, Sept. 5th through Saturday, Sept. 6th)

TAYLOR STEPHENS OF RHODES COLLEGE, a first year runner from Southlake, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6.

Stephens was the top Division III finisher (second overall) at the University of the South Invitational meet in her collegiate debut. Stephens ran the five kilometer course in 18:10 and led the Lynx to fourth place overall finish.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Hayley Robb of Sewanee paced the Tigers as she returned to the team after a year abroad in Tanzania. She ran a person best 19:15 to finish eight overall in a field of 149 at the University of the South Invitational. Her time ranked as the fifth fastest distance time in the last 11 years at Sewanee. Junior Tami Warner of Southwestern placed 12th overall out of 61 runners at the Texas State University Cross Country Invitational by finishing the three mile course in 18:38 and was the top Division III finisher.


WEEK 1

(For meets run Friday, Aug. 29th through Saturday, Aug. 30th)

LOLLY PLUMMER OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, a first-year runner from Lake Charles, La., has been selected the SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30.

Plummer
was the top Division III finisher (second overall) at the Arkansas Tech Twilight meet. She ran the two-mile course in 11:53 and led the Warriors to a fourth-place overall finish - beating cross-town rival Central Arkansas for the first time and finishing ahead of Division I Memphis.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Krissy Ford of Trinity paced the Tigers as they won the University of the Incarnate Word Relays. Ford ran her first-ever 5k race in 20:16 to place fourth overall. Sophomore Anna Johnson of Millsaps was the top Division III runner at the Mississippi College Season Opener meet. Johnson ran the 4k course in 16:42 and placed fourth overall.
